Settings
Important
Information and features vary according to the roles to which you belong and the permissions associated with those roles. For more information, contact your module manager or your campus support team.
The question/field properties on the Settings tab let you configure how users enter information and how it is used within the system based on the selected question type.

Compare To | Selects another question’s response for comparison with the question being defined. This field is used as a validation method for form responses. | Textbox |
Date from Tag | Used to pre-populate a date/time picker question with a particular date using a literal string replacer. NoticeYou can create an @@BirthDate tag that selects the currently logged in user’s birthdate from the biograph_master. Select that date by default in the datepicker by entering @@BirthDate in the Date from tag setting. | Date / Time Picker |
Default Value | The information or data value that users see when they first access the question. Form users can update this value as needed. |

File Name Format | Allows you to apply a naming convention to uploaded files. TipThis can be helpful for managing multiple uploads by creating unique and distinguishable file names (e.g., you can use literal string replacers to add the form user's name or submission date). |

Font Size | This setting determines the text size for question responses. TipThis setting is impacted by the selections for the question field's height and width. Consider the response field size when you define the response font size. |

Help Info Text | Use this setting to enter additional information or brief instructions that are visible when users hover over or click on the help icon by the question. |

Hide on Load (Legacy) | TipThis is a legacy feature that will be discontinued in a future release. Use rules to hide questions when the form loads. This setting hides the question when the form is initially accessed. |

Include in Grid Report | Determines if form responses are included in the form summary table in the Report View. |

Input control CSS classes | This setting allows you to add a CSS class to the question (e.g., you can enter in “btn-success” to turn a button green). |

Map to J1 Web Event Field | The Map to J1 Web Event Field setting is available for schools licensed to use J1 Web Events Management and maps J1 Web event invitee information to the event registration form. When you create an event registration form using the event templates, this information is automatically mapped to the appropriate questions. You can add questions to your registration form and map additional J1 Web information as needed. |

Map to Payment Field | Allows you to select the form information that is available for the payment feature (e.g., Name or ID Number). |

Max Length | Limits how much information form users can enter in a field. If you are working with a collection grid, this setting limits the number of rows that can be added. |

Multiply Balance by Double Value | TipThis is a legacy feature that will be discontinued in a future release. Use the Balance Calculator to update the final balance. Used to associate a fee or accept a payment with your form. Select this checkbox to multiply the amount the form user enters or select the fee amount in the associated payment profile. |

Or Enter Image URL | Allows you to enter or paste the web address of the image displayed in the form question. | Image |
Read Only | Makes the question visible, but disables response options for selection. |

Required | Makes a response mandatory before the user can move to the next question, tab, or submit the form. |

Selected Date | Determines the date that appears in the date / time picker question. Form users can click on the field to change the date. | Date / Time Picker |

Show Only in Report | When selected, responses are only shown in the Report View. |

Show Update Button | Allows form users to update their responses on the form. The database row is also updated with the new information. | Collection Grid |
Trigger Rules and Look Ups | Allows rules to be applied to read-only questions. NoteThis checkbox is only visible when the Read Only checkbox is selected. |

Upload a File | The Upload a File Setting lets you select and upload a file that form users can download when they access a File Download question. |

Use ID Number Value to Override Submitter's ID | Allows users to enter an ID number for another user (e.g., a faculty member submitting a form for a student). This number is tied to the record instead of the submitter’s ID. | Hidden |
Validation | Allows you to validate form responses against a specific database field (e.g., ID Number). | Textbox |
Waiver Code Data Source | Determines which data source is used to access waiver codes. |

Width and Height | Used to adjust the size of the question response field. You can use a percentage of 100 or px/pt values (e.g., enter 50% or 50px to make the field smaller). |

Log in to the Campus Portal as an administrator and access FormFlow - Forms.
Click Manage forms.
Click on the form you are working with.
Click the question ellipsis and select Edit to open the Edit Item pop-up.
Click the Settings tab.
Access the question Settings tab.
From the Alignment drop-down, select how you want the question aligned in the row.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
In the Allowed Extensions field, list the file types you will allow an applicant use to upload their essay or resume.
Note
Enter the file types in .docx, .pdf, etc. format.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
In the Date from Tag field, enter the literal string replacer you are using to determine what date will automatically be selected when the form user accesses the form.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
In the Default Value field, enter the information you want to be automatically shown form users when they access the form and this question.
Click Save.
Log in to the Campus Portal as an administrator and access FormFlow - Forms.
Click Manage forms.
Click the ellipsis on a datepicker question and select Edit.
Click the Settings tab.
Select the Display Time checkbox.
Click Save.
Log in to the Campus Portal as an administrator and access FormFlow - Forms.
Click Manage Forms.
Click on the form you want to update. The admin view of the form displays.
Click the ellipsis on a question and select Edit.
Click the Settings tab.
Enter a naming convention for uploaded files in the File Name Format field.
Tip
You can use literal string replacers to use information from the form to make the naming convention unique.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
Enter your hint text in the Help Info field.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
Select the Include in Report Grid checkbox.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
From the Map to J1 Web Event Field drop-down, select the J1 Web event information you want to be populated on the form for this question.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
In the Max Length field, enter the total number of characters the form user is allowed to enter.
Click Save.
Access the question Settings tab.
Select the Multiply Balance by Double Value checkbox.
Click Save changes.
Access the question Settings tab.
In the Or Enter Image URL field, paste the web address of the image you want to associate with the question. To get the URL of a web image:
Access the website with the image you want to add.
Right-click on the image and select Copy link address.
Caution
This may not always be accurate. If the image links to something else, the address being copied copying will be the target of the link and not the source of the actual image.
Click Save changes.
Access the question Settings tab.
From the Selected Date calendar options, select a date you want to appear in the field when form users access it.
Note
Form users can click on the field to change the date.
Click Save changes.
Access the question Settings tab.
From the Upload a File options, click Choose a File.
Locate and select the file you want to be available to form users.
Click Open.
Click the Upload button.
Click Save changes.
Access the question Settings tab.
In the Width field, enter how wide you want the field to be on the form.
In the Height field, enter how high you want the field to be on the form.
Click Save.
Select the Required checkbox.
Click Save changes.
