Communications and Desktop Notepad

Like Notepad, Communication Management lets you set up system-generated communications to anyone in the system including students, staff, faculty, donors, and any constituents on campus as well as external recipients such as potential prospects or event attendees. This can include generating emails, printed letters, etc. Setting up these communications in Notepad was a complex process requiring you to access multiple windows to create and associate actions that used a daily procedure to be sent en masse. Communication Management takes that process and simplifies it into a handful of simple steps.

Automation Plans & Schedules

A few notable differences:

  • Action lists in Notepad cannot be edited, but J1 Web sets and schedules can be. This gives you greater flexibility to work with your communication workflows. You can change the timeframes, add and remove interactions, as well as add and remove rules/stops to the interactions.

  • Sets in J1 Web are also more extensive than Notepad action lists letting you control when and how documents, emails, notes, notifications, phone calls, texts,* and To Dos are associated with records in your system.

Note

There are no action or action list conversion options for EX/J1 Desktop Notepad users. Schools need to evaluate their existing communications, and create new interactions and automation plans in J1 Web modeled off the ones in Notepad.
