Resource Type Definitions

Important

Information and features vary according to the roles to which you belong and the permissions associated with those roles. For more information, contact your module manager or your campus support team.

Resource type definitions identify classroom items that can be associated with nontraditional courses, events, and facilities (e.g., projectors, computers). You can add these resources to nontraditional courses on the Courses (Non-traditional) window, Resources tab in Desktop.

Desktop Location

You can also define resource types in Desktop on the Resource Definition window. Resource types defined in one system are available in the other.

Database Location

Resource type definitions are stored in the Resource Definition table: CM_RESOURCE_DEF.

Permissions Required

Users in the default Facilities Manager role have the "Can manage resource type definitions" permission.

  1. From the Facilities hub, click Resource type definitions to open the page.

  2. To filter the definitions, select the Filter icon Filter icon in column headings on a column heading. Follow the prompts in the filter pop-up, and click OK.

  3. To sort the definitions, click the arrows at the head of the column you want to sort on.

  4. To see all the fields for a definition, click the Expand icon Expand Icon.

  1. Click the Create definitions button.

  2. Enter a unique Type (up to 10 characters).

  3. Enter a Description (up to 60 characters).

  4. Click Create and close or Save and create another.

  1. Click the Edit icon Edit Icon for a definition row.

  2. The Type cannot be changed.

  3. Make updates to the Description as needed.

  4. Click Update.

  1. Select the checkboxes next to the rows you want to export.

  2. From the Options drop-down, select Download to Excel. The Download to Excel pop-up opens.

  3. Select options for the Excel format and data columns.

  4. Click Download. Your .xlsx or .zip file is saved in the file location that you have set in your browser settings.
