Postpone or Cancel an Event

Important

Information and features vary according to the roles to which you belong and the permissions associated with those roles. For more information, contact your module manager or your campus support team.

Users with the appropriate permissions can cancel or postpone events that are Scheduled or In Progress. When an event is postponed or canceled, the location is no longer reserved, participants must be notified, and fees may need to be reimbursed (if there were fees associated with the event).

Note

If you postpone an event, you have the option to reschedule it. If you cancel an event, it cannot be rescheduled.

Invitee notifications and fee reimbursement must be done manually for canceled and postponed events.

For multi-part events, when a main event is canceled or postponed, all related sub-events are also canceled or postponed.

For recurring events, you can postpone or cancel the entire series or individual occurrences in the series.  Use the main event page for changes to the entire series, or go to the Manage Event Occurrences page to postpone or cancel individual occurrences. When a recurring series is postponed or canceled, all occurrences that are not already completed or canceled are updated to that status.

  1. Open the event page.

  2. Select Postpone event from the Scheduling options drop-down.

  3. Click Postpone this event in the confirmation pop-up.

Note

When the event is postponed, the location is removed from all calendars, participants must be notified, and fees may need to be reimbursed. Postponed events can be rescheduled.
