Users in this role can. . .

Can view roles

Review all available roles in J1 Web including the description, associated module, and number of active users associated with it.

Can edit non-default role names & descriptions

Customize role names and descriptions as you want them to appear to other users making them consistent with the department names at your school and clarify the differences between roles with similar permissions.

Note

The names and descriptions of default roles can't be edited.

Can create roles

Create roles with varying permissions to ensure a wide range of access needs are met. Users can create as many roles with varying permissions as needed. Users can create roles appropriate for users needing limited access or users who may need fuller access to additional information.

Can copy roles

Utilize existing role permissions to quickly create and customize new roles. Users can manage user privileges by creating as many advising roles with varying permissions as needed.

Can change role permissions

Add/remove access to J1 Web features and information. Roles can be customized to meet the needs of different user groups. Privileges can be managed via groups as opposed to individually.

Can change what the role can access

Grant/revoke access to features and information according to their specific needs.

Can delete non-default roles

Remove customized roles that are no longer needed to eliminate confusion. Deleting roles does not delete the default role template.

Data Display Access

Can view display access

Access the Display Data Access page. View how confidential data in the system is displayed and masked (e.g., SSN, salary, bank account number).

Can manage data display access

Associate roles to data display. This controls how users in those roles will see confidential information.

System Users

Users in this role can. . .

Can view system users

Access the System Users page and view a lists of current users in the system and ones in the database available for J1 Web. Can view detailed technical and user information.

Can view system user information

Access Desktop and J1 Web information about active and inactive users:

  • Identify when a user last logged in

  • Review the roles the user currently belongs to

  • See the last time a user was added/removed to a role and/or if a permission was added/removed to one of the roles they belong to

Can create and edit users

Access the System Users page and the Available for Web tab. Make a J1 Web User option is available which converts available users to J1 Web users .

Can activate and deactivate users

Control which users can access J1 Web. Changes made in J1 Web are applied to the J1 Desktop Users window.

Can add and remove user role assignments

Add and remove users to/from roles to immediately grant and revoke access to information and features
