Holiday Schedules

Use Holiday Schedules to create holidays for employees to work with on their timecards.

  1. From the Employee Administration hub, choose Manage holiday schedules from the Hub options drop-down menu.

  2. Click the Create holiday schedule button in the right-hand corner of the Holiday Schedules page. The Create Holiday Schedule wizard opens to the Choose Holiday Schedule Period step.

  3. Enter a Start Date and End Date and click Continue.

    Tip

    The Start Date cannot be in the past, overlap with any other holiday schedule, or be after the defined End Date. The End Date cannot overlap with any other holiday schedule or be before the Start Date.

  4. The wizard advances to the Select Holidays and Dates step. From the drop-down, choose the Holiday you want to schedule.

    Tip

    A holiday is only available in the drop-down if it has been identified as a holiday in the Calendar Items list.

  5. Choose the Observation Date.

    Tip

    The only available dates are the ones defined in the Choose Holiday Schedule Period step.

  6. Choose Add another to define another Holiday within the same Holiday Schedule Period.

    Tip

    To return to the Choose Holiday Schedule Period step, click the link in the list on the left.

  7. When complete, click Save draft schedule. The wizard closes and the new holiday schedule appears at the top of the Holiday Schedule list.

    Note

    For a schedule to appear on employee calendars and timecards, you must publish it using the Publish option in the Actions drop-down.

  1. Choose Manage holiday schedules from the Hub options drop-down.

  2. Click the Actions button in the Action column and choose Edit.

    Tip

    You can also click on the holiday schedule link to access the edit feature.

  3. The Create Holiday Schedule wizard opens displaying the current Start and End Dates. Edit if needed and click Continue.

    Note

    The start date is locked from editing if it or any observation dates are in the past.

  4. On the next step you can change the observed holiday, change the observed date, delete a holiday, or add another.

  5. Click Save draft schedule to save your changes and close the window.

    Note

    For a schedule to appear on employee calendars and timecards, you must publish it using the Publish option from the Actions drop-down menu.

  1. To view the details of a holiday schedule, click the link in the Holiday Schedule column.

    Note

    You can only view schedules that have been published.

  2. Use the checkboxes at the top of the page to filter the schedules by status. On the Holiday Schedules page, the Overview block displays a list of all holidays and observation dates in the schedule. Dates that are in the past are light gray.

  1. From the Employee Administration hub, choose Manage holiday schedules from the Hub options drop-down.

  2. Find the holiday schedule you want to delete in the list of holiday schedules.

  3. Click the Actions button in the Action column and select  Delete from the drop-down.

    Note

    A holiday schedule can only be deleted if it is in Draft status.

  4. Click Yes, delete on the confirmation pop-up.

  1. From the Employee Administration hub, choose Manage holiday schedules from the Hub options drop-down.

  2. Find the Holiday Schedule you want to publish and click the Actions button in the Actionscolumn.

  3. Choose Publish from the drop-down.

  4. Click Yes, Publish on the confirmation pop-up.

    Caution

    Once a holiday schedule is published it is available to employees to work with on their timecards and cannot be deleted.

If there are no active holidays the Create holiday schedule button is disabled. You can create active holidays from calendar items on the Calendar Items page.

The Start Date cannot be in the past, overlap with any other holiday schedule, or be after the defined End Date. The End Date cannot overlap with any other holiday schedule or be before the Start Date.

For a calendar item to appear in the list of holidays, it must be defined as a holiday on the Calendar Items page.

When a holiday schedule is published it becomes available to employees to work with on their timecards.

Published holiday schedules cannot be deleted.

You can only edit a holiday schedule if it is in draft status (i.e., it has not been published).

Yes, the dates will appear on calendars but will not affect timecards. A warning displays if you create a holiday with a observation dates in the past.
