Rounding of Hours
If your school tracks employee hours incrementally, it is important to ask what your school's practices are and ensure they are in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) mandates. Jenzabar provides two configurations for determining how employee hours are rounded on their timecards:
Rounding Increment determines if entered times are rounded to the nearest possible 5-, 15-, or 30-minute increment, or if they are not rounded at all.
Rounding Direction determines if the entered times are rounded to the closest time, always rounded up to the next highest time, or always rounded down to the last time increment. An employee enters their start time as 8:06 am and end time as 4:02 pm. You can set rounding to an even start time at 8 am or 8:15 am and an end time at 4:00 pm or 4:15 pm.
From Hub options , select Manage administrator settings.
On the Rounding of Hours section, from the Rounding Increment option, click the Edit icon.
From the drop-down, select how you want to handle the rounding of hours and click Save. If you select Do not round from the Rounding Increment option, the Rounding Direction options disappear.
From the Rounding Direction option, click the Edit icon.
From the drop-down , select an option (closest, round up, or round down) and click Save.
In this instance, you would have multiple pay groups. You can set each pay group up to have different timecard options.
If you change this setting on the first day of a pay period, the change is made immediately; otherwise, any changes take effect at the start of the next pay period. If you make changes in the middle of a pay period, employees could lose any rounding that was applied to their timecards. For this reason, the system is programmed to make changes only at the start of a new pay period.
Employees can see how their time is rounded in light grey text under their actual time entry.
If your school does not want to round hours for timecard entry, select Do not round in the Rounding Increment drop-down.
