Payroll Calendar Setting

The Payroll Calendar setting allows administrators to create payroll calendars by defining pay periods.

When you’re ready to start creating pay schedules and pay periods in J1 Web, turn the Payroll Calendar setting to Setup mode. While in Setup mode, you can experiment with creating pay schedules and pay periods, but they are not available to employees. You can turn the setting back to Off from Setup, but all the data you’ve set up will be lost.

Tip

You can't turn the Payroll Calendar setting to On until you have created and published at least one pay schedule while in Setup mode.

Once you turn the setting to On, the pay periods created here are available to employees, so it’s important to stay in Setup mode until you are certain your pay schedules and pay periods are correct. If you used J1 Desktop to set up online pay periods, the pay periods created in J1 Web replace those.

  1. From the System Administration hub, make sure the Employee Administrator | Payroll | Can create/edit payroll calendar permission is assigned to the appropriate users.

  2. From the Employee Administration hub, choose Manage administrator settings.

  3. Navigate to the Payroll Calendar setting and choose Setup.

  4. From the Employee Administration hub, choose Manage payroll calendar.

  5. Use the Create pay schedule wizard to experiment with creating pay schedules and pay periods.

No. You have to create at least one pay schedule in setup mode before you can turn the setting on. This is to prevent the setting being turned on before there’s at least one pay schedule for employees to use.
