Compute Student Progress
The Compute Student Progress process is available on the Manage Advisees page and the Student Aims page, in the Reporting and Processes drop-down. Use it to manually run the process that updates the selected students' progress toward completing their requirements.
The Compute Student Progress process (also informally called Advising Recalc) runs automatically using the options selected on the Advising Settings page. The automatic process runs whenever there are changes to students' programs or their registration status for courses. You may want to run the process manually when there are other recent changes.
The Student Progress block (on the Advising Administration summary page) provides at-a-glance statistics about the automated process, including these:
Number of students currently requiring recalculation (refreshes every 30 seconds)
Last recalculated (date and time)
Errors (how many have been generated in the past 24 hours)
This is also where you can set how often the automated recalculation runs (from 1 to 5 minutes).
The Compute Student Progress pop-up provides the following options:
Recalculate student progress data even if it is unchanged: If unselected, only student records that have changes since the last update are included in the process.
Recalculate CORE information even if student is CORE complete: If unselected, CORE information is left unprocessed if the student is has completed CORE requirements.
Important
This option is available only for schools with the Texas State Reporting license.
You can run the process in Desktop on the Compute Student Progress window.

If you selected more than 10 students, the process may take a little while. A message tells you that the process has started. When it finishes, an alert notifies you. If the process fails, a message gives you the log number and provides a link to the application log.
