Server Cache

Important

Information and features vary according to the roles to which you belong and the permissions associated with those roles. For more information, contact your module manager or your campus support team.

The J1 Web clear cache option lets you manually delete your web server’s cache.

A server cache provides temporary storage for frequently accessed information such as user session and permissions data, database query results, and API responses. Caching avoids repeatedly fetching or computing data, which helps web pages load faster and reduces the overall load on the server.

Clearing the server cache deletes this temporarily stored data, forcing the system to rebuild it from its original sources.

Note

You can also clear the web server cache directly from your web server. Steps vary by server types, and you’ll need to refer to your server’s documentation for more information.

Clearing the server cache can help you:

  • Troubleshoot issues caused by temporary or corrupted cached data.

  • Ensure compatibility after moving your site to a new hosting provider. Clearing old, cached data helps prevent conflicts with new servers or settings.

  • Optimize performance after major system updates.

  • Resolve cache conflicts if your environment uses multiple cache layers (e.g., plugins, Content Delivery Network (CDN), etc.).

During the clear cache process, J1 Web may temporarily slow down as the system rebuilds cached data. To minimize performance impacts on end users, Jenzabar recommends clearing the cache when there are fewer users accessing J1 Web.

Once the server cache is rebuilt, performance quickly returns to normal.

To view this page and access the various features, you must belong to a System Administration role with the "Can view & edit product installs and sign in settings" permission enabled.

Note

  • To minimize performance impacts on end users, Jenzabar recommends clearing the cache when there are fewer users accessing J1 Web.

  • This option clears the server cache; it does not impact users’ browser caches.

  1. Log in to J1 Web with System Administrator permissions.

  2. Access the System Administration hub, System Settings, Product Installs and Sign In page.

  3. From the Server Cache section, click Clear cache. The Clear Cache confirmation pop-up window appears.

  4. Click the Clear cache button. The confirmation pop-up window closes, and the server cache is cleared.
