Highlighted Features

Applicant Portal Updates

New features were added to the Applicant portal to give applicants more control over their applications and checklists. See the Applicant Portal section below under New Functions for further details

A new report allows administrators to view the results of their At-Risk alerts on a global basis.

Administrators can now map fields from custom form builder forms to existing fields within the SONIS system and transfer submitted data to these fields. Additionally, administrators can now import and export form templates.

SONIS now offers a robust integration with Jenzabar Financial Aid, a state-of-the-art automation, packaging, and reporting system for higher education financial aid. The integration sends data in both directions and can be scheduled to operate periodically with no manual input.

Several changes were made to the Online Application both within the application itself and to the setup process.

New Functions

Administration

Jenzabar SONIS now produces a file recording transaction details that can be exported to Microsoft Dynamics accounting software. Additionally, a new version of the Post to Accounting file has been created that exports to MS Dynamics in a tab-delimited format.

The College Financing Plan utility can be used to create a custom plan for each student and applicant that will give them an idea of how they can pay for their tuition and other expenses. The report mirrors the US Department of Education template and can be accessed through the student and applicant portals.

Jenzabar SONIS now offers a report which creates an enrollment letter that can be printed and/or viewed from the Student portal.

A new utility allows administrators to change the layout of the Courses by Semester page. Columns and features can be excluded as well.

Jenzabar SONIS now provides for the creation of CRA TL11A forms. These forms are used to provide tax data for Canadian students attending foreign schools.

Jenzabar SONIS clients can now create Docker containers on their server, which allows them to partition support software like SQL and ColdFusion into separate containers. This partitioning can be used to prevent systemwide crashes, support different technology layers within each container without causing conflicts, and rebuild a server in minutes. Docker is an open-source platform that is free to use.

The new Element451 Utility allows clients to import data from Element451, a marketing and customer relations software.

A new Timed Task clears all GPAs. The GPA table is deleted and rebuilt, refreshing each student's GPA.

Clients can automatically import student data from HubSpot, a popular marketing and customer relations management tool.

Jenzabar SONIS now includes a favicon that appears in the browser tab and in bookmarks. Clients can upload their own custom icon to replace it.

Applicant Portal

Clients can offer applicants the ability to respond to their acceptance by either accepting or rejecting the offer through the Applicant portal.

Applicants with more than one application can now designate a preferred application and rank their programs in order of preference within each application.

A new, more user-friendly checklist page has been created. The page can display multiple applications with multiple programs per application and provides the option for applicants to upload a file to satisfy a checklist item using the SONIS Document Management System.

CE Portal

Financials - CE Billing Page

A financials tab and Billing page have been added to the CE portal, giving CE students the option to view and pay their bills through this portal.

Online Application

The online application now includes an optional Ministerial Standing page that institutions can use to collect this data.

Terms of Service Agreements can now be assigned to the Online Application in addition to the other portals.

Enhancements

Administration

A new checkbox allows administrators to exclude pending aid from the Billing report.

The Order Tracking feature now includes subtypes, another level of categorization.

Clients can now pair an application fee charge transaction code with an application fee payment t-code, simplifying this process. Must not be used in conjunction with the Application Fees utility.

The Bulk Section Copy utility now copies program and level restrictions when copying courses. Previously, these restrictions were not copied and had to be manually entered again.

Semester select filters and live result search field added to the Career Major Reenrollment utility.

Four new fields have been added to the Clearinghouse export: gender, ethnicity code, military type, and e-mail.

A division filter has been added to the Clearinghouse utility to further narrow down the selection for importing and exporting.

A dropdown menu has been added to allow clients to select the report year when creating their Clearinghouse file.

Systems - CMC Assignment Update

When ECSI is set as a payment gateway, Jenzabar SONIS now sends the campus code in addition to the other data.

The Enrollment Data Collection utility has been redesigned for improved clarity and ease of use.

Clients now have the option to include anticipated charges in 1098-T reports.

The ISIR import has been updated to accept the new 2021-2022 format.

The Import Name Records tool can now accept XLSX files in addition to XLS and TXT files.

Administrators can now access an in-progress online application and make changes directly from the Import Functions utility.

The manner in which essay records are stored within an applicant's records has been updated for improved functionality and to sync up with multi-OA functionality.

Clients can now create codes to offer a discount to their application fee in addition to allowing applicants to waive it entirely.

Online Application

Error checking has been added to ensure chronological consistency on the Educational Background page within the application.

Clients can now choose to use their program display name on their application rather than the official program name.

Student Portal

Institutions now have a third display option for the student billing page, which offers both a summary table and a link to view a PDF billing statement.
