Highlighted Features

Continuing Education courses can now be offered at a discounted price based on volume registration or special promotional offers. Previously, only a single discount option was available, but now institutions can offer multiple discounts at the same time.

Allows institutions to have more than one active online application. Applications can be created for separate departments, for graduates and undergraduates, etc.

The ability to upload Document Management System files has been added to the student, faculty, applicant, alumni and employer portals. Files automatically appear on bio page, but can be moved using the DMS Attachments utility.

Jenzabar SONIS has an updated look and feel to match our new logo and color scheme. In addition, the new menu and table designs make navigating the system easier.

Allows institutions to automatically create G Suite accounts for each of their students at the time of entry. Once these accounts have been created, students can utilize Google’s popular chat and calendar features and will access their school email through Gmail.

Allows schools to offer their Online Application in multiple languages. Applicants can select a language and the card will be translated. Selected language will be listed as the student’s preferred language in their records.

Several changes were made to the Jenzabar SONIS PowerFAIDS integration to provide added functionality and improve the user experience. Each change is listed separately below.

Added Single-sign-on through oAuth2 and SAML, allowing users to sign in to Jenzabar SONIS through alternate accounts and stay logged in on their personal computer, phone, or tablet.

Added the option to require a second method of authentication before allowing users to sign in to the SONIS system.

New Workflows utility allows an administrator to save a series of pages within SONIS as a workflow. When the workflow is started, the system with automatically navigate to the saved pages in the set order.

New Functions

Administration

New utilities allow schools to import financial aid disbursement data from Regent Award and export awards data to Regent Award.

The User Breadcrumbs Report function is designed to allow institutions to track the SONIS use patterns of their administrators. It's only usable for institutions that have been using the Breadcrumbs shortcut utility.

The Midterm Grades report can now be downloaded as an Excel file for easier manipulation.

New utility allows schools to create a student refund export file for CashNet, an online loan provider.

Created single sign-on integration with CashNet, allowing students log in to Jenzabar SONIS automatically when logged in to CashNet.

New utility allows institutions to import general ledger t-code mapping from an Excel spreadsheet.

New functionality allows schools to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, providing the ability to report, suspend, anonymize, and restore personal data upon request.

Schools can now create a custom payment gateway integration with Paya for student payments.

Jenzabar SONIS now interfaces with the PayPal Smart Button API, an upgrade over the previous PayPal integration.

Jenzabar SONIS member institutions can now use PeopleSoft Financial as their general ledger accounting software.

New Registration Limits utility allows schools to limit the number of courses a student can register for in a given semester. An integration with the SAP utility has been added as well.

Allows for URL posts from Salesforce to Jenzabar SONIS to create records for applicants who use Salesforce to apply to the school.

New Notification Assignment/Timed Task will export student data for import to Schoology LMS.

New Section Date Correction utility allows the user to change the start and dates for a specific course section after the date has passed as long as grades have not been assigned. Works in conjunction with the Bulk Section Copy utility.

Institutions can now create terms of service agreements that must be accepted before a user can access their SONIS portal. These agreements can be set to expire after a certain date and can be specific to each portal.

New utility allows schools to import applicant files from WebAdMIT.

Enhancements

Administration

Active program restrictions will now display in a read-only list off to the side on the Course Section Edit Page just as assigned instructors have previously.

Total Clock Hours, Clinical Hours, and Class Hours fields have been added to the Add Transfer Course page. Additionally, the character limit on these fields on the Course Add/Edit have been increased to six characters to accommodate varying usage.

New feature randomizes photo filenames for added security and anonymity.

The export to Great Plains was no longer working after updates on their end. It has been fixed to import properly into the Great Plains system.

Disposition, campus, and status have been added as Alternative Search options.

Schools now have the option to specify a career meeting type on the Career Services page.

Created a new User Security option preventing selected users from deleting holds from a student’s records rather than disabling the holds and retaining the record.

Schools can now select more than one education record to associate with an employment record. Programs that the user has graduated from will be marked with a “(G)”.

New display options on the Student Courses Summary page allow users to show withdrawn course credits and reorganize the list by school year/semester.

New checkbox that appears when sending an email through the Biographic page and other pages where a student’s email appears allows email to be saved as an Activity.

New automated notifiers can be set up for when Jenzabar SONIS Activities take place.

The prospect inquiry card has been updated to allow the addition of analytics code to both the head section of the page and the body section. In addition, functionality was added to allow analytics code to be added to the body section of all online application pages.

New automated notifier alerts administrator when a student drops below full-time.

Updated Authorize.Net payment process to better distinguish between credit/debit cards payments and added payment options allowing opt in/out. In addition, the fees have been updated to include payment processing.

New Notification Assignment and Scheduled Task allow institutions to periodically delete old Breadcrumb records.

A checkbox option has been added to Bulk Attendance, allowing users to exclude Summary Attendance courses from this process, if so desired.

Update to the Campuses table adds checkbox designating whether the campus will be listed as an option in the Online Application or not.

New web option allows institutions to require faculty members to certify attendance prior to each census date. If the option is turned on, a checkbox is added to the attendance page in the faculty portal.

Modifications to transfer registration CMC grades data entry and faculty portal locking of graded CMC student records.

New automated notifier alerts administrators when a student registers to audit a course.

Allows administrators to activate an option to require faculty to review and acknowledge their teaching schedule. Results can be tracked via a report.

Newly created notifier alerts selected users when a Form Builder form has been submitted.

New option allows administrators to hide student registration charges during basic registration.

Enhancement to the Immunization Expiration Status Notification adds status selection and ability to notify individual users.

Import Functions will list the prospective student’s preferred program as a sortable column on the summary page when importing from the Online Application.

Enhanced Izenda implementation to maintain session keep-alive and segment user permissions.

Update to the Affiliations utility allows schools to hide sensitive affiliations from low-level users by creating a false name for the affiliation that will appear on the student’s Biographic and Registrar Summary pages. View privilege is controlled by User Security.

Allows institutions to create a waiver code that applicants can use to avoid paying an application fee.

Institutions can now choose to have multiple choice questions in their OA display as a dropdown menu rather than radio buttons.

Added ability to import adjusting awards to accommodate changes when funds have already been disbursed.

Created new blank field on Dispositions for Applicants page where schools can enter two-letter PowerFAIDS ID to allow for export.

Added fee change date and 2nd fee percentage fields to accommodate fee changes that may occur within an academic year.

Reintroduced user-defined XML tagging capabilities to the PowerFAIDS XML export setup.

New XML Block Tags table allows users to enter in both XML block tags and the associated XML tags, creating predefined tags to ensure proper export to PowerFAIDS.

Updates were made to the SAP utility, primarily to distinguish between Academic Good Standing and Financial Aid Good Standing. New Excel and PDF export options included.

Ten new columns have been added to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Report.

The Student Holds by List page will now include a field for a memo that the student in question can view.

All Portals

Schools can hide student and alumni balances in the portal Billing utility to allow for payments when pre-billing is being utilized.

Applicant Portal

The applicant portal will now honor the preferred language of the applicant and translate pages to that language.

CE Registration

When enabled, new alert informs the student registering for a CE course of time/date conflicts and allows them to override.

CE Registration Course Memo page reorganized to make it easier to read and understand.

Course listing display updated to match course listing page that appears after student login.

New portal menu utility functionality for CE Registration allows CE students to access additional SONIS utilities without granting them Student status.

Courses by Semester

Faculty Portal

New option allows faculty registering students through the Faculty Portal to designate a course as pass/fail.

New web option allows institutions to require faculty members to certify attendance prior to each census date. If the option is turned on, a checkbox is added to the attendance page in the faculty portal.

If a student has given the school a nickname or other name that they prefer to be called, it will now be shown in parentheses on the faculty roster page.

Allows administrators to activate an option to require faculty to review and acknowledge their teaching schedule. Results can be tracked via a report.

Student Portal

New option allows students registering through the Student Portal to designate a course as pass/fail.

Allows students to edit their secondary email through the Update Bio utility in the student portal.
