Email Duplication Checker

Overview

The Jenzabar SONIS Email Duplication Checker is a tool that administrators can use to check for duplicate email address records within their database. There are a number of reasons why this may be useful. First and foremost, if a user sends a password reset request, it would be a breach of security to send that password to a second user. Additionally, administrators may want to check for another user with the same email address before performing an import if their Duplicate Name Search settings don't include the email address as a search field.

To set how the SONIS system creates email addresses for users, navigate to the Email Address Utility, also under the systems menu.

Checking for Duplicates

To check for duplicate email address records, navigate to the Email Duplication Checker in the Systems hub. Type the email address in the Electronic Mail field.

In the above result, both students are siblings and they have the same email address in their Parent address for this reason. Keep in mind that there may be legitimate reasons such as this for two users to have the same email address in one or more of their records.
