How To

  1. Access the Connect, Forms, Manage Forms page.

  2. Find the form you're updating and from the Actions menu, select Edit form.

  3. From the Build step, select the tab you want to add the radio button option to.

  4. Click Add Item. The New Item pop-up window appears.

  5. Enter a Unique ID for the placeholder field.

  6. Select Radio Button from the Type drop-down list.

  7. Select the appropriate label display option: Display on the form or Screen reader only.

  8. In the Text field, enter and format the label you want to use to describe the radio button options.

  9. If you are grouping fields, enter the group name in the Group field.

    Note

Each question being included in the group must have the same group name in this field.

  10. Click the Settings tab.

  11. Use the Alignment options to move the question to the center or right.

  12. Set up the attributes:

    1. Select the Required checkbox if users are required to select an option.

    2. Select the Read Only checkbox to make the question visible to users but not available to select.

    3. Select the Show Only in Report checkbox to make a question/field only visible in the report view.

  13. Display on: Mobile, Tablet, Desktop

  14. Enter a Default Value if you want specific text when the user access the question.

    Note

Form completers can update what is entered here. You can also use @@ string replacers in this field.

  15. Click the Options tab.

  16. Select Static Options or Dynamic Options.

    • Static options are ones you enter on the form. They do not use data sources or vary.

    • Dynamic options are based on data sources and queries set up to select information from your external database. They can vary according to the form completer, information, etc.

  17. If you selected Static Options, click Add and enter the values you want available to form completers in the Numeric, Value, and Text fields provided. If you want a particular option to be automatically selected, select the Selected checkbox. You can add as many options as you want.

  18. If you selected Dynamic Options, select the Options Source from the drop-down.

    Note

The options sources drop-down lists Data Dictionaries data sets that have been classified as Form Options.

  19. Click the Rules tab to define if anything happens when the form completer selects an option from the drop-down.

  20. Click Add.

  21. In the first drop-down, select the If answer value is condition.

    Note

Rules must always have an If answer value is condition in the first statement of the sequence. This tells J1 Web Forms to execute the action if the user's answer matches the answer value you specify.

  22. In the field to the right of the drop-down, enter the answer value that will trigger the rule to execute.

  23. In the second drop-down, select the action you want to occur when the condition is met.

  24. If needed, click Add to add another rule.

    • Else if answer value is tells J1 Web Forms to execute the action if the answer value matches the new answer value you specify when the "If" condition fails.

    • Else will tell J1 Web Forms to execute the action if no previous conditions were met.

    • And will tell J1 Web Forms to execute the action in addition to any other action that is set to execute in the previous rule condition.

  25. Click Update.

  1. Access the Core, Campus-wide Definitions, Data Sets page.

  2. From the Queries for drop-down, select Data Dictionaries.

  3. Click Create data set.

  4. From the Classification drop-down, select Form Options.

  5. From the Select Modules Allowed Access to Data Set, select the modules you want to be able to access the data set. Anyone in a role with access to a selected module can see and use the data set when working in J1 Web.

  6. From the Type drop-down, select InfoMaker or SQL File.

  7. If you select InfoMaker:

    1. From the PBL drop-down, select the InfoMaker PBL file you want to select a query from.

    2. From the Query drop-down, select the query you want to use to create a data set in J1 Web.

  8. If you select SQL file:

    Note

SQL files cannot be edited in J1 Web. Once the file is uploaded, the query fields cannot be changed; however, you can download the query syntax, make changes, and then upload it as a new data set.

    Tip

Sample SQL returns a list of states from the J1 database:

    SELECT RTRIM(VALUE),

    DESCRIPTION FROM TD_STATE_VIEW

    1. Test the query in SQL Server Management Studio before uploading to ensure performance is optimized. A query shouldn’t take more than 4-5 seconds to run. Poorly performing queries will impact J1 Web system performance.

    2. Click Choose File.

    3. Browse your computer or network to find the appropriate SQL file and select it. The system evaluates the file for issues. If none are found, the Create data set button is enabled.

  9. Click Create data set. The Create Data Set window closes, and the data set is listed on the Data Sets page.
