Forms Item: Settings Options
Note
Settings options vary by form item type.
Setting Type | Description | Available With |
|---|---|---|
Alignment | Determines whether the item/field is right-aligned, left-aligned, or centered within its row. | All |
Compare To | Selects another item/field's response for comparison against the current item/field. This field is used for validation. For example, confirming two fields match (such as email and confirm email). | Textbox |
CSS Classes | Styles items using Bootstrap 3.4 classes or your own custom style sheet. For example, you can enter "btn-success" to make a green success button. |
|
Default Value | Information or a data value form completers see when they first access the item/field. Form completers can update the value as needed. TIP: This field can be used as hint text. Instructions such as "Enter your full legal name." can be entered and shown in a textbox item. |
|
Display Date Picker | Shows the date-selection control for the date / time picker type. | Date / Time Picker |
Display On | Determines whether the item/field is visible on mobile, tablet, and/or desktop devices. If an item is required, all display on options are selected and cannot be updated. | All |
Display Time Picker | Shows the time-selection control for the date / time picker type. | Date / Time Picker |
Is Required | Makes a response mandatory before the form completer can proceed to the next item/field or tab, or submit the form. |
|
Is Read Only | Makes the item/field visible, but prevents form completers from entering or selecting a response. |
|
Max Length | Limits how much text form completers can enter in a field. //sg//max length within J1W?// |
|
Show Only in Report | When selected, the field and its responses appear only in the submitted form to the reviewer. Responses are hidden from form completers during form entry. For example, this can be used to collect the submitter's ID number in order to auto-populate other fields or include with the submission. |
|
Validation | Validates form responses against a specific database field (e.g., ID Number) to ensure the entered value matches existing data. | Textbox |
Width and Height | Adjusts the size of the item. You can use percentages (e.g., 50%) or pixel/point values (e.g., 50px) to control how large or small the field appears. |
