Forms Item: Options Configurations
Note
Available configurations vary by form item type.
Options configurations provide two settings: orientation and type. Orientation controls how radio button and checkbox items appear on the forms. Options control pre-defined choices form completers can select from. Options configurations are available for the following form items:
Checkbox
Drop-down
Radio button
Textbox
Orientation Configurations
Control how radio button and checkbox items appear on the form.
Horizontal means options appear side-by-side on the form.
Vertical means options appear stacked in a column.
Static Options
Static options let you manually enter fixed values. These values do not change unless the form builder edits the form and changes them. Use static options when you need:
A small, predictable set of choices
Values that do not depend on external data
Simple, manually controlled lists
Dynamic Options
Dynamic options are populated from Data Dictionaries data sets classified as Form Options. They are ideal for commonly used lists such as:
States
Countries
Academic programs
Standardized institutional values
Form Option data sets are created and managed from the Core hub, Campus-wide Definitions module, Data Sets page. This includes who has permissions to the data sets.
If the Options Source includes one or more arguments, each argument can be matched to the corresponding form item/field using the drop-down list that appears below it.
Note
The following Randomize option is only available in Campus Portal Forms.
