Transitioning to J1 Web Student Information

Welcome to Student Information in J1 Web! We know it can be challenging to adapt to a new interface, but we think you'll find J1 Web's robust features worth the effort to switch.

This guide lists all the fields of the Student Information window in Desktop, and it shows you where to find the equivalent in J1 Web.

J1 Web uses the same database as Desktop. Therefore, changes you make in J1 Web are automatically applied to Desktop, and vice versa.

Two differences from Desktop that you might notice are how we divided personal information from academic information, and how there are information pages for individual students and information pages for all students (which you can filter to the students you need to work with).

Person Information vs. Student Information

J1 Web divides student information into Person Information and Student Information. Person Information includes biographical and contact information, ethnicity, legacy relationships, and other information not directly related to the student's academic program. Student Information includes enrollment, division, program, graduation, and other information directly related to their academic program.

Student Information Details for Individual Students

For an individual student, the Student Information Details page is available from the student's Summary page.

For managing information for all students, the following pages are available on the Registration Operations hub:

General Locations of Student Information in J1 Web

How To

View a Student's Person Information

Click the Search icon . The Search panel opens with the Person option selected.
Click in the search field, and begin typing the name or ID of the student. Select the student from the list of results. The student's Person Summary page opens.
Click the Person options drop-down, and select Person and then Person information details. The Person Information Details page opens to the Individual tab.
Click any tab to view its contents.
On any tab, click the Edit icon to edit the information. Click the Update button to save your changes.

View a Student's Academic Information

Click the Search icon . The Search panel opens with the Person option selected.
Click in the search field, and begin typing the name or ID of the student. Select the student from the list of results. The student's Person Summary page opens.
Click the Person options drop-down, and select Student, Student, and Manage student details. The Student Information Details page opens to the General Information tab.
Click any tab to view its contents.
On any tab, click the Edit details button to edit the information. Click the Done editing button to save your changes.

View Student Information for Multiple Students

On the Navigation panel, click Student and then Registration Operations. The Registration Operations menu expands.
Click Student Information. The Student Information menu expands.
Click one of the student information pages to open it.
To see all the information for any student, click the Expand icon on their row.

Even More Information from the Student's Summary Pages

From a student's Summary pages, so much information is at your fingertips. There are information blocks on the Person and Student Summary pages, and some of those link to full pages of information.
