Managing CRM-ERP Communication

For some features in JICS to work correctly, the CRMs must send and retrieve information from your ERP system’s database. This chapter describes that process.

This chapter does not describe the regular importing of information that is managed by the DIS. Note that the DIS is used strictly for one-way communication—from the ERP system into JICS. The DIS does not send information back to the ERP system. For more details see Working with the DIS.

Key Concepts

In some cases, JICS—or more specifically, the CRMs and in a few cases e-Racer—must communicate with your school’s ERP database by sending or retrieving specific information. This communication is driven by specific user actions in the JICS interface.

Some examples include the following:

  • In CRM Candidate, when a potential student submits an inquiry, JICS passes the student’s request to the ERP database.

  • In CRM Staff, when a supervisor submits an employee’s timecard, JICS passes details to the ERP database regarding the number of hours the employee worked.

  • When a teacher submits grades using Gradebook Grade Entry feature, JICS passes the grades to the ERP database.

The exact manner in which this communication occurs varies depending on your ERP system. This chapter describes the process for CX, EX, QX and TE.
