Working with Attendance Notifications
If desired, you can configure the portal to send notifications if students are absent or tardy too many times. You define how many are “too many” on the Attendance settings page. These notifications can take any of the following forms:
A message sent to the student’s preferred email or via the Message Center.
A message sent to you via your preferred email or the Message Center.
An email message sent to an account that you specify.
An SMS message sent to you and the student (if SMS messages are enabled)
A desktop notification sent to you and the student (if desktop notifications are enabled)
When attendance notifications are enabled, messages are automatically sent at the time that the student crosses the threshold you define on the Notifications tab of the Attendance settings page. When configuring those thresholds, you have the following three options:
Send a notification if a specific number of the student's sessions are marked tardy or absent (for example, the student is marked with three absences).
Send a notification if a percentage of the student's sessions are marked tardy or absent (for example, 20% of the sessions are marked tardy).
Send a notification if the student is marked tardy or absent for a specific number of consecutive sessions (for example, the student is marked tardy two times in a row).
You can also manually resend notifications at any time from the Notifications tab.
