Working with My Calendar
This section explains how to manage your My Calendar feed. For an overview of My Calendar, refer to About My Calendar.
About Calendar Subscriptions
To add a calendar shown in JICS to your My Calendar feed, you must subscribe to it. You may subscribe to both internal calendars that are hosted within JICS and external calendars that have been imported into JICS (for example, a Google calendar or a Microsoft Outlook calendar).
When you subscribe to a calendar, it will appear in your My Calendar feed. That is, calendar items from that calendar will appear overlaid on top of other calendars you are viewing, along with any other calendars included in your My Calendar feed. To differentiate calendar items in your My Calendar feed from items that belong to the Calendar feature instance you are viewing, your My Calendar feed appear in red, while calendar items that belong to the feature instance appear in blue.
Note
Default calendar colors may be modified by a JICS administrator, so you may see colors other than blue and red in your portal.
After subscribing to a calendar, you can toggle its display in your My Calendar feed on and off, as explained in Show or Hide an Assignment’s Due Date in My Calendar.
Take the following steps to subscribe to a JICS calendar or an external calendar that has been imported into JICS.
Note
You do not need to subscribe to your course schedules, as they will automatically appear in your My Calendar feed.
Navigate to the instance of the Calendar feature that contains the calendar to which you wish to subscribe.
Click the Manage calendars link in the upper-right corner of the calendar.
The Manage calendars drop-down menu displays.
Take one of the following actions:
To subscribe to a single calendar, click the Subscribe link next to it. If this link is not available for a calendar, the calendar administrator has set it so the calendar cannot be subscribed to.
To subscribe to all calendars in the feature instance, click Subscribe All.
Note
When you use the Subscribe All function, you will be subscribed to all calendars currently in the feature instance, but if calendars are subsequently added or removed from the feature instance, those changes will not affect your subscriptions.
The calendar is now included in your My Calendar feed.
Take the following steps to unsubscribe from a JICS calendar or an external calendar that has been imported into JICS.
