Managing Feedback Features
eLearning allows for commenting on the Student Assignment Details screen of any assignment. Following is a summary of the functions related to such comments:
Faculty can leave comments and upload feedback files for students.
Students can leave comments for faculty.
Faculty receive email notifications each time a student leaves a comment.
Students receive email notifications each time a faculty member leaves a comment or uploads a feedback file when sending emails.
For both the student and faculty, the main Coursework view shows a feedback icon next to an assignment where feedback has been left for currently logged in user.
The feedback icon is only shown for 7 days, and then the icon is removed and no longer shown. If multiple feedback comments are provided, then the icon remains until all feedback comments are greater than 7 days. However, all feedback comments can be viewed, even when the feedback icon is removed.
If SMS messages and desktop notifications are enabled, the system also sends them to students and faculty when sending these email notifications.
Bear in mind that these functions relate specifically to comments left on the Student Assignment Details screen—not comments left in the text of an online test.
How To
By default, students are allowed to leave comments on the Student Assignment Detail screen. You can disable this capability by taking the following steps.
If you haven't already, go to the appropriate Coursework feature instance, as described in Navigate to the Coursework Feature and click Configuration.
Under Student comments, select or deselect the option labeled Let students make comments to you on their assignments.
Your change is automatically saved whenever you select or deselect this option.
You can have the system send you an email notification each time a student leaves a comment. The default setup is that notifications are not activated.
If you haven't already, go to the appropriate Coursework feature instance, as described in Navigate to the Coursework Feature, and click Configuration.
Under Student comments, select or deselect the option labeled Send email notifications when students add comments.
Your change is automatically saved whenever you select or deselect this option.
