Working with Attendance Records
This section describes the process of saving attendance records for each student.
How To
Navigate to the appropriate Attendance feature instance.
Using the timeline at the top of the page, locate the session for which you want to record attendance. The most recent session is selected by default.
For each student, take one of the following actions:
If you are grading using statuses, select the appropriate status for the student. The default options are Present, Tardy, Absent, Excused, and Very Late, but these options may have been customized by your administrator.
Tip
To assign all students the same status at once, select the Default checkbox at the top of the status column. You can then select a different status for some students as needed. For example, if all but two students were present, you could select Default to mark all students as present and then change those two students to absent by clicking the Absent status in their rows.
If you are grading by entering time, enter the number of minutes the student was present.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 to mark attendance for other sessions.
If you want to record a single student’s attendance for multiple sessions, use this procedure.
Navigate to the appropriate Attendance feature instance.
In the initial view of the feature, click the name of the student for whom you want to create attendance records.
The system displays the Attendance screen with the student's name selected at the top.
Click the student’s attendance status for as many sessions as appropriate.
Note that the Tardy option is displayed only if you track attendance by whole session. (With other attendance marking methods, you mark the student as Present and then enter the exact amount of time the student was actually there.)
The system automatically saves and updates the screen to show the choices you made. If you want to mark attendance for another student, repeat step 3 for that student.
Use this procedure to modify attendance records that you previously created.
Navigate to the appropriate Attendance feature instance.
Using the timeline at the top of the page, locate the session for which you want to modify attendance. The most recent session is selected by default.
Modify the attendance records as needed. Your changes are saved automatically.
You can create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that contains the attendance records for the class session.
Navigate to the appropriate Attendance feature instance.
Click Export to Excel.
The portal generates the spreadsheet and saves it in your Downloads folder.
