Working with Attendance Notifications
If desired, you can configure the portal to send notifications if students reach a certain status too many times, such as Absent or Tardy. You define how many are “too many” on the Attendance settings page. These notifications can take any of the following forms:
An Attendance alert icon
displayed in the far-left column and in the Legend above the table on the main Attendance screen.
A message sent to the student’s preferred email or via the Message Center.
A message sent to you via your preferred email or the Message Center.
An email message sent to an account that you specify.
An SMS message sent to you and the student (if SMS messages are enabled).
A desktop notification sent to you and the student (if desktop notifications are enabled).
When attendance notifications are enabled, attendance alerts are automatically shown on Attendance screens and messages are automatically sent at the time that the student crosses the threshold you define on the Notifications screen of the Attendance settings page. When configuring those thresholds, you have the following three options:
Send a notification if a specific number of the student's sessions are marked with a specific status (for example, the student is marked with 3 Absent statuses).
Send a notification if a percentage of the student's sessions are marked with a specific status (for example, 20% of the sessions are marked with the Tardy status).
Send a notification if the student is marked with a specific status for a specific number of consecutive sessions (for example, the student is marked with the Tardy status 2 times in a row).
You can also manually resend notifications at any time on the Notifications screen. For more details, go to Resend Attendance Notifications.
