Name Search Window

The Name Search window provides advanced name lookup capabilities.

When a name is included in the search results, the ID Number of the selected name is displayed. Also displayed are the Name, Preferred Name, Nickname, Social Security Number, Birth Date, Gender, Birth Name, E-mail Address, Address Master Lines 1-3, City, State, ZIP Code, Phone, Mobile Phone, and DE Class Year.

This window also allows additional information to be viewed for that name and allows a name to be selected and returned to the window from which the Name Search function was called. Access to biographical and address information are also provided.

 Search Criteria

The Search Criteria group box allows you to enter criteria to use in searching for names.

 Last Name (60)

SSN (000-00-0000)

Birth Name (30)

 First Name (30)

Birth Date (00/00/0000)

Email Addr (1500)

 Preferred Name (30)

State

Clicking the Search button launches the search using the criteria you entered and displays the results (if any) in the detail grid (Summary view). Also, if your cursor is focused in one of the criteria columns, pressing the Enter key will also launch the search.

If the specified data exists in the NAME_MASTER or ADDRESS_MASTER tables, then the corresponding columns in the Name History and/or Address History tables are also searched.

Additional Criteria

The Additional Criteria group box allows you to add additional criteria on the Additional Name Search Criteria window, which is opened by clicking the Add/Change button. Once you enter and save additional criteria, the Add button becomes a Change button.

A default additional criteria of Name Type = *ALL is displayed when the window is opened; therefore, the button will be shown as Change upon opening the window.

You can remove additional criteria row(s) by selecting the row(s) and clicking the Remove button. The Remove button is not available until you select a row in the Additional Criteria group box.

Search Options

The following search options are available for your use during the name search:

Use Soundex for Last Name

Cross-check First and Preferred Names

Cross-check Last and Birth Names

Cross-check First and Nicknames

If you made changes to your search options and want to save these changes, you can update your current settings in User Preferences by clicking the Save as Default button. The next time you open the Name Search window, the Search Options will be displayed as you last saved them. However, none of the entered search criteria values are saved; therefore, you must enter search criteria values each time the Name Search window opens.

Results Grid

When you click the Search button after entering search criteria and indicating search options, the following information is displayed in a grid.

**Spouse

**If the Biograph Master table has an ID Number in the Spouse ID column or if a configurable relationship code exists in the Relation Table, the wedding ring ( ) icon is displayed. Click the wedding ring icon to view spouse information on the Spouse Information window.

If the name displayed in the Name column does not match the name of the person for whom you are searching, it may be due to the name being found in the Name History table rather than the Name Master table. If this is the case, the first column of the results grid displays a 'H' to indicate that the row is included in the search due to a match having been made in the Name History table.

If you select a row and click the OK button, the Name Search window closes and the ID Number for the selected row is returned to the window from which you initiated the name search.
