CBE Learning Outcomes Definition Window

To set up Competency Based Education (CBE), you first turn it on and configure it in the Registration Configuration window. You then define CBE types, categories, and levels. After that, you come to this window to define learning outcomes.

You can associate each outcome with a program, department, and college. You can edit the Display Order of outcomes, and you can deselect checkboxes to make outcomes invisible in drop-downs. After you've created the outcomes, you can use the CBE Competency Definition window to add any or all of the outcomes to the competencies.

Be Aware of the Display Name

By default, the Competency Based Education feature's display name is "CBE", but your school can rename it. The name appears in many windows, pages, and drop-downs. It refers both to the Competency Based Education feature and to the elements (like types, levels, units, and competencies) that you assign to courses and sections.

The names of windows, field labels, and values in drop-downs may include "CBE" by default. When you change this display name, it changes those window names, field labels, and drop-down values. In documentation, we still call it "CBE".

1. Right-click below the grid, and select Add Row.

2. Enter a name in the Learning Outcome field.

3. Enter a Description.

4. Select an Associated Program, an Associated Department, and an Associated College.

5. Enter a number for the Display Order.

6. If you don't want the new category to be active or to display in drop-downs, deselect the checkboxes.

7. Click the Save button on the main toolbar.
