SMTP Relay Configuration Window

The SMTP Relay Configuration window allows you to view and maintain relay server and e-mail/SMTP server information. You must properly configure relay and SMTP server information if you want to take advantage of e-mail notification functionality in Jenzabar One.

Jenzabar recommends that you start using J1 Web to manage SMTP relay settings. Please see the  J1 Web SMTP Relay Configuration  online help for additional information.

Important: If J1 Web is configured to use an SMTP relay option other than SMTP Relay Server via CAS, the settings on this window will be ignored.

Relay Server

E-mail notifications are relayed to your institution’s e-mail/SMTP server by J1 Client Application Services. In the Relay Server group box, select the Relay E-mail Messages with J1 Client Application Services radio button.

With Relay E-mail Messages with J1 Client Application Services, you have the ability to send e-mail messages from anywhere in the J1 ecosystem of products. This option requires you to install J1 Client Application Services on the relay server machine you select in the Relay Server Name list box. You can also specify how often J1 Client Application Services relays e-mail notifications by entering the number of minutes in the Relay Interval field.

If you would like to relay e-mail notifications securely and your e-mail/SMTP server supports SSL, select the Relay e-mail messages securely by using SSL? checkbox.

SMTP (E-mail) Server

You must enter your institution’s e-mail/SMTP server name in the SMTP Server Name column.

By entering an e-mail address in the Default Reply To/From Address column, you are providing J1 with a default e-mail address to use if an e-mail notification does not already have one assigned.

Jenzabar recommends that you enter an e-mail address in this column as most e-mail/SMTP servers require a from/reply to address.

Relaying to your e-mail/SMTP server can be done within or outside of your network. It is likely that user credentials will need to be provided if your SMTP server is cloud-based or hosted outside of your network (like gmail or live.edu). Therefore, if your e-mail/SMTP server requires user authentication, select the Include user credentials when relaying e-mail messages? checkbox and then enter values in the User Name and Password columns.
