TEACH Grant Details Window

This window data collected to demonstrate how a candidate or student is eligible to apply for the TEACH Grant program for a selected year and term. It allows you to review and maintain TEACH Grant-eligible students each term and transfer their eligibility information to PowerFAIDS for possible awarding.

Retrieval Criteria

When the window is opened, it immediately loads the RE module Year and Term in the POE Cross-Reference table mapped to the default POE ID set in the Financial Aid Configuration window and retrieves those rows.

The Retrieve button retrieves data records from the TEACH Grant History table using one of the following methods:

1. If Year and Term columns are populated but the ID Number column is not populated, all rows in the TEACH Grant History table where the Year Code = Selected Year and Term Code = Selected Term are retrieved.

2. If Year and Term columns are populated and the ID Number column is populated, all rows in the TEACH Grant History table where the Year Code = Selected Year and Term Code = Selected Term and ID Number = Selected ID Number are retrieved.

You can add new records and update existing records, but records cannot be deleted. If the record is no longer eligible for the TEACH Grant, the TEACH Eligible flag must be cleared. The TEACH Grant Eligibility Update will automatically clear the TEACH Eligible flag for any existing records for the selected year and term being evaluated that have not been manually added or updated. Monitoring the eligibility of students manually added or maintained is your responsibility. When a record is manually added, the Citizenship Status is auto-populated and the TEACH Eligible flag is selected. All other data columns must be manually set.

Update to PowerFAIDS*

This group box is used to select students and launch a special update to the PowerFAIDS external_data table.

This button highlights (selects) all rows in the current window display.

This button removes highlighting (deselects) from all rows in the current window display.

This drop-down allows you to select the PowerFAIDS Award Year to be updated when you click the Apply button.

This button sends the Social Security Number, ID Number, Award Year, TEACH Eligibility, and the TEACH Eligibility Reason to the external_data table in PowerFAIDS.

Year

YR_CDE

The Year Code is set based on selected Year Code. The column is required and not available for editing.

Term

TRM_CDE

The Term Code is set based on selected Term Code. The column is required and not available for editing.

TEACH Eligible

TEACH_ELIGIBLE

This checkbox defaults to Yes (selected). The TEACH Grant Eligibility Update will automatically clear records determined to be ineligible by the update process.

All manually maintained records must be manually cleared, if appropriate.

TEACH Eligible Reason

TEACH_ELIG_REASON_CDE

IF TEACH Eligible = ???Y??? then TEACH Eligible Reason cannot be empty; valid values include:

· ???01???=SAT > 75th Percentile

· ???02???=ACT > 75th Percentile

· ???03???=GRE > 75th Percentile

· ???04???=Teacher/Retiree

· ???05???=HS GPA > 3.25

· ???06???=COL GPA > 3.25

· ???07???=Multiple Reasons

You must set the appropriate value when adding a row manually. The TEACH Grant Eligibility Update automatically sets the appropriate reason code with the exception of the Teacher/Retiree reason as there is no J1 module tracking this information.

The Teacher/Retiree reason must be manually assigned and is generally why users manually add records to this window.

High School GPA

HS_GPA

This column displays the AD_ORG_TRACKING.GPA for the Last High School if the student is an entering freshman for the selected year and term and has such data. It may have no impact on the student???s eligibility.

College GPA

COL_GPA

This column displays the AD_ORG_TRACKING.GPA for the Last Organization that is not also the Last High School if the student is an entering transfer for the selected year and term that has not yet earned a GPA at your institution and has such data. It may have no impact on the student???s eligibility.

It may also be populated with either STUDENT_DIV_MAST.LOCAL or STUDENT_DIV_MAST.CAREER_GPA if the student is a current student and has earned a GPA. The GPA used depends upon the GPA choice you selected in the Financial Aid Configuration.

Transferred GPA

COL_GPA_TRANSFERRED

This checkbox is set to ???Y??? when the College GPA is set for an entering transfer for the selected year and term that has not yet earned a GPA at your institution and has such data.

It has no impact on the student???s eligibility. Its purpose is to categorize the College GPA as one for a student transferring from another institution.

Major

ELIGIBLE_MAJOR

This column displays the MAJOR_MINOR_DEF.MAJOR_CDE.

If the student is either an entering freshman or transfer for the selected year and term that has not yet been transferred to RE, then the first value that is defined both as a Major and TEACH Eligible from the following will be selected:

· CANDIDACY.PROG_CDE

· CANDIDACY.SECOND_PROGRAM_OF_INTEREST

· CANDIDACY.THIRD_PROGRAM_OF_INTEREST

If the record is a current student for the selected year, then the first value that is defined both as a Major and TEACH Eligible from the following will be selected:

Minor

This column displays the MAJOR_MINOR_DEF.MINOR_CDE.

If the student is either an entering freshman or transfer for the selected year and term that has not yet been transferred to RE, then the first value that is defined both as a Minor and TEACH Eligible from the following will be selected:

This checkbox is set to ???Y??? if the student has taken the SAT tests and their national percentile data has been entered into TEST_SCORES_DETAIL and at least one of the following test elements contain a value between 76-99:

· SAT Critical Reading

· SAT Math

· SAT Writing

ACT > 75th Percentile

TOP_75TH_PERCENT_ACT

This checkbox is set to ???Y??? if the student has taken the ACT tests and their national percentile data has been entered into TEST_SCORES_DETAIL and at least one of the following test elements contain a value between 76-99:

· ACT Math

GRE > 75th Percentile

TOP_75TH_PERCENT_GRE

This checkbox is set to ???Y??? if the student has taken the GRE tests and their national percentile data has been entered into TEST_SCORES_DETAIL and at least one of the following test elements contain a value between 76-99:

· GRE Quantitative

· GRE Analytical Writing

The following two functions are currently not available, but Jenzabar plans to support these functions as soon as the College Board adds full support for the TEACH Grant.
