Standard Authentication

Institutions can authenticate J1 Desktop application users with “standard” authentication, which requires the IT staff to create database accounts for EVERY J1 Desktop application user.  This mode of authentication is the default method that the J1 Desktop application uses to authenticate users.

The following setup is required to use standard authentication:

1.         All J1 users must be given a user account in the J1 database with appropriate privileges.

2.         Application groups must be defined in Tasklist and assigned appropriate access to windows and functions throughout the J1 Desktop application.

3.         All J1 users must be defined as application users in the Tasklist and assigned to one or more application groups to gain access to windows and functions in the J1 Desktop application.

4.         When logging into the application, the J1 Desktop user receives a login prompt to enter their user id and password and, if a member of more than one application groups, must choose an application group in which to log in.
