The Leave of Absence window/tab is used to track a student's leave of absence per a requirement stated in Federal Law 34 CFR 668.22 that the ". . . number of days in the approved leave of absence, when added to the number of days in all other approved leaves of absence, does not exceed 180 days in any 12-month period."
When the window/tab is initially opened, all Leave of Absence rows with a begin date greater than or equal to the Leave Begin Date in the header are displayed.
You can also provide and read feedback for each leave of absence.
Leave of Absence reasons are defined on the Leave of Absence Definition window and stored on the Leave of Absence table (leave_of_absence.absence.cde).
The standalone window is found in the Working with Students and Working with NT Students activity centers.
The tab is found on the Student Information window, Degree tab, Leave of Absence subtab.
Changes you make on the window apply to the tab, too, and vice versa.
Your school can enable cross-table updates for changes like leaves of absence that affect multiple tables. On the Registration Configuration window, Registration Configuration tab, select these checkboxes:
Perform Cross Student Tables Updates
If you select this checkbox and not the next, then the updates happen automatically, and you can't control the parameters.
Display Cross Student Table Updates Prompt
If this checkbox is also selected, you can select which fields to update and control their parameters.
If those are selected, then when you save a leave of absent on a student's record (in either the tab or the window), the Cross Table Student Information Update window for that student pops up. There you can opt in to update other tables to reflect the leave of absence. Select the checkboxes and enter dates only if this leave of absence affects these. The one that matters most for a leave of absence is the NSC Special Status Information.

The Leave of Absence checkbox is selected by default with the Leave Begins date copied from the Leave of Absence tab or window.
These update the NSC Student Master table (nslc_student_master).
If Registration Configuration is set to Perform Cross Tables Updates but not to show the prompt, then the NSC Student Master table is updated automatically without showing you the prompt.
Update Exit Information
Leave blank for a leave of absence.
Update Degree Conferred
Leave blank for a leave of absence.
The Cross Table Student Information Update doesn't happen (and the prompt doesn't appear) unless the leave of absence is flagged as Financial Aid Approved in the Leave of Absence Definition window (absence_def.absence_finaid_approved).
