There are several GPA-related columns throughout Registration and Advising that are specific to Term, Career, Local, and Transfer. These hours can be used for final or mid-term grading periods and can also be identified for use with the Scholarship or Special GPA calculation.
· Term Hours will display hours, quality points and GPA information for a specific term only.
· Career Hours will include the totals for the student's entire career, including the latest term.
· Local Hours will include the totals from the local institution including the latest term.
· Transfer Hours will include the totals that have been transferred from another institution including the latest term.
Attempted, Earned, or GPA Hours columns on the Student Course History will be updated if the Career or Term checkboxes are selected. This will not occur when Special GPA checkboxes are selected but rather the credit hours value on the Student Course History row will be updated.
If either the Career or Term checkbox is selected for Attempted, Earned or GPA Hours, the Recalculate Academic Record process will update the Student Course History hours attempted, hours earned and GPA hours columns which are displayed for each of the students courses on the transcript.
· Attempted Hours is the total number of credit hours on courses for which a student has registered. These hours might be associated with courses that have already been completed or courses that a student is currently taking (Hours In Progress ). The calculation used to determine attempted hours is dependent on how the Grade Table has been defined.
· Earned Hours: This is the number of credit hours on courses that a student has registered for, completed, and passed. All hours earned from child requirements are added and the computed value will be entered in the parent requirement record.
· Hours Needed: This figure represents the number of course hours that are needed for a student to satisfy a requirement.
· GPA Hours: This is the number of credit hours on courses that a student has registered for and used in calculating the student's grade point average. If a student received an A for a course, the credit hours for that course would be added into the GPA Hours column; a Pass/Fail course would not add any hours into this column.
· GPA: This is the grade point average for the student. The GPA Hours and Quality Points are both used to calculate this figure.
