The Program Type is a user-defined code of up to 2 alphanumeric characters that can be used to identify special types of programs that are offered at your institution. These program types are associated with majors or certifications.
A Program Category (such as English as a Second Language) is also a user-defined code that can be used to calculate the full-time equivalency classification for students. The program category appears on the Course Description tab of the Catalog Master window as well as on the Section Master and can be associated with courses, majors, or certifications.
Both the program type and the program category are defined on the Maintain Table Values window and stored in the Table Details table. Choose Column Name of prog_type and prog_category. Once codes are defined, they can be selected from a drop-down list.
A Prior Program Name text column is used to enter the previous name of a program if it has been changed. This information may be required by some states for reporting purposes.
