Information about the benefits offered at your organization are found on the Benefits Control window and the Benefits Control with Payroll Detail windows. Benefits include deductions, fringes, and accruals, such as vacation and sick time. The Benefits Control information pertains to voluntary and mandatory deductions, fringes, and accruals, but not taxes. The only tax information relevant to benefits is whether or not those benefits are exempt from taxes, and the only tax information that should be in this table is the employer's portion of FICA. The Benefit Code FICAO is the employer portion of Social Security (OASDI), and FICAM is the employer portion of Medicare.
If you have a benefit for which the employee pays a portion and your organization pays a portion, you need two entries on the Benefits Control or Benefits Control with Payroll Detail window:
1. An entry for the Deduction (Plan Type of Deduction) for the Employee's portion
2. An entry for the Fringe (Plan Type of Fringe Pay run or Fringe nonpay run) for the Employer's portion
If the benefit is an accrual benefit (Plan Type of Other earning accrues), you must enter further information about how that benefit will accrue on the Accrual Standards window.
