The Violation Type identifies and describes the nature of an offense and is used throughout Student Life. When you enter or select a Violation Type, its Violation Category automatically determines whether or not the offense will be included in the Campus Crime Report.

If you select a Violation Type that is connected to the NSO CCR Category, the system provides an additional drop-down pick list that allows you to select "Incest" or "Statutory Rape." |
Type or select from the drop-down list the code identifying the sort of violation you want to default into the Violation Type column in rows created on the Persons Involved tab in the Violation Incident Window or the Persons Involved tab in the Vehicle Violation Incident window. This Violation Type is optional and can usually be edited if necessary.
From either the Violation Inquiry window or the Vehicle Violation Inquiry window, type in or select from the drop-down list the code you want to use for querying incidents.
When you choose a Violation Type, J1 automatically populates the appropriate options available in the Report Section drop-down pick list for Campus Crime Reports. This prevents the collection of data for invalid combinations and ensures the generation of proper counts in the Campus Crime Report data collections.
