2017 IPEDS Outcome Measures Reports

For the 2017 report, there's a federally mandated change to how you report the initial student cohort. We've made changes to help you submit your reports. Here is how to work through the changes.

Create a New Snapshot

Create a new snapshot to collect data for the 2017 Outcome Measures report.

a.    Start by collecting all new students (First-Time and Transfer) that started between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010.

b.    Use the 2009 reporting year and 2009 Fall for the academic year/term.

c.     Use the IPEDSFALLGRS Purpose code.

d.    You must use the date range, or select all years and terms for Record Selection. (You must choose one or the other; you can't use more than one method.)

e.    Collect First-Time and Transfer students as normal.

f.     Pell Grant Information is collected based on the  IR_PELL_SUBSIDIZED_LOAN_RECIPIENTS_V view.

g.    After the initial data collection, collect the additional Outcome Data using the Additional IPEDS Data tab | Outcome Measures subtab.

h.    Select the years/terms that should be used to determine if the student is still enrolled, and click the Populate Outcome Data button.

Edit the Institutional Research Student Data Records Window

a.    On the Detail tab, edit the Pell Status.

b.    The Cohort category interacts with both the First-Time/Transfer column and the Part-Time/Full-Time status.

i.      If you have defined the Cohort on the Division tab of the Student information window, that value is used to determine the First-Time/ Transfer and Part-Time/Full-Time status.

ii.    If not, then the system uses the Part-Time/Full-Time status from the entrance year and term and the First-Time/Transfer status on student division master to determine the cohort category.

c.     On the Outcome Measures tab, you can edit Cohort Category, Exit Reason, Exit Date, 4, 6, and 8 Year Award Levels, and Still Enrolled Status.

d.    Award at # Year calculates the highest award that the student received at each year increment.

Create the Reports

We've added four new reports for Outcome Measures with the standard drill-down capability for troubleshooting.

a.    PART_A – Establishing Cohorts

b.    PART_B – Award Status at Four Years After Entry

c.     PART_C – Award Status at Six Years After Entry

d.    PART_D – Award and Enrollment Status at Eight Years After Entry
