Account Number

An account number (or account code) is used to uniquely identify an individual, department, or fund and the related debit and credit entries. To prompt for the account number, select Account Number List from the Options menu or by right-clicking on the column.

Invoices Window (Detail Tab)

In the Detail tab of the Invoices window, specify the G/L expense account to which this detail row will be applied. If the Vendor Master row for this vendor has values in the Default Account and Percent columns, line items appear on this window already filled in with the account number and percentages. You can leave the defaults, further describe the line items, or replace the default values. If you copy a purchase order to create an invoice, the Account Number cannot be changed. You can prompt for the account code by selecting Account Number List from the right-click or Options menu.

Payment Prefix window

In the Payment Prefix window, specify the account number out of which checks are paid. This is usually an asset account (i.e., Cash).
