Make File Extensions Available Window

The Make File Extensions Available window is used throughout J1 Desktop.

Module Used In How Used

Registration

File extensions must be defined for the Registration module in the Make File Extensions Available window before they can be used on the following windows:

·       Graduation Stage subtab of the Degree tab of the Student Information window

·       Leave of Absence window

·       Manage Holds window

Development

File extensions must be defined via the Make File Extensions Available for Attachment in Development link on the Master Config tab of the Development Configuration window in order for attachments to be available for the Employment History, Education, and Affiliations panels on the Achievements tab of the Biographical Data window.

Budget

File extensions must be defined via the Make File Extensions Available for Attachment in Budget link on the Budget Settings window in order for that type of file to be attached to budget worksheets in campus portal (JICS) and J1 Desktop.

Human Resources

File extensions must be defined via the Make File Extensions Available for Attachment in Human Resources link on the Human Resources Configuration (Payroll or Personnel) window in order for attachments to be available in the Applicant Master, Employee Master, and Organization Position Master windows.

Purchasing

File extensions must be defined via the Make File Extensions Available for Attachment link on the General tab of the Purchasing Module Setup window in order for that type of file to be attached to budget worksheets in campus portal (JICS) and J1 Desktop.

 

To create a new file type for use throughout all of J1 Desktop, click the Create a new file extension link, which opens the Define Allowed File Extensions window where you can define a new file type.

Columns

The option(s) displayed in the Attachment Use column is populated depending on how you open the window.

·       If you open the window from another window, the Attachment Use column typically is pre-defined and not editable.

·       If you open the window from an Activity Center and depending on your permissions, several options may be displayed in a drop-down list box.

The available file types for the selected Attachment Use are displayed in the grid.
