The subsidiary code provides the following:
A quick way to identify the Subsidiary Control account during data entry. During data entry, you can type the General Ledger control account number or you can type the two-character subsidiary code.
An order of subsidiary accounts on statements. The statement program uses the subsidiary code to sort subsidiary accounts. Therefore, you should assign subsidiary codes in the order you want to see the subsidiary accounts print on statements.
Below is a list of sample subsidiary codes. Notice that when the subsidiary codes are sorted, the student's Tuition account displays last on the list. If we want tuition to display first, we must give it a subsidiary code that sorts ahead of all other subsidiary accounts.
