Application Function-Level Security

This security level defines a user's ability to use the various business-related functions that make up the software application. Within the confines of these defined processes, users can be given permission to add or update data that cannot be accessed via the user database-level security. These permissions ensure a high level of data integrity because the access to the database is allowed only through carefully structured functions within the software application without granting free database access using ad hoc tools.

For application function-level security, the user name and password must match the user database-level Login ID and password. The user name and associated permissions for software functions are assigned using the J1 Desktop Security & Permissions features. Each individual user must be assigned to a valid group that has access to database functions before that user can log in to the software application.
