1. In Active Directory, add the J1 Desktop application user (Active Directory user) to the EXAPPUSERS_dbname security group in the J1 Database Organizational Unit (OU). dbname is the name of the database to which you are granting the user access.
2. If your school syncs users and groups In Active Directory, add the J1 Desktop application user (Active Directory user) to the appropriate application group(s) within the J1 Database OU. If your school only syncs users, proceed to Step 3.
3. Allow SQL Agent synchronization job J1 Desktop App LDAP Synch – dbname process to create the application user and group membership in the J1 Security & Permissions module.
After the user has been created by the synchronization job, you can further customize the J1 Desktop application user on the Users window in the J1 Security & Permissions module by assigning a SEVIS ID (which is generated from the SEVIS website) and specifying if the user is to receive notifications by selecting the Notification Enabled checkbox.
