This process is only required for schools syncing users and groups from the active directory. If your school only syncs users, do not follow these steps. |
1. In Active Directory, create a new universal security group that will represent an application group in the J1 Desktop application.
2. The Group Name (pre-Windows 2000): field needs to be unique in the Active Directory forest. Generally, Jenzabar recommends that you prefix the name of the group with the OU name to make the Group Name (pre-Windows 2000): name. For example, if the Active Directory group were "RESuperUsers" and the OU was "TmsEPrd", you would make the Group Name (pre-Windows 2000): field to be "TmsEPrd_RESuperUsers." This will allow you to more easily restore the production to play and duplicate the Active Directory setup.
3. Add J1 Desktop application users (Active Directory users) to the new application group in Active Directory within the J1 Database Organizational Unit (OU).
4. Allow SQL Agent synchronization job J1 Desktop App LDAP Synch – dbname process to create the application user and group membership in the J1 Desktop Tasklist module.
5. After the synchronization job has completed, open the Group Definition window.
6. Find the application group created by the synchronization job.
7. Highlight the application group, and click the Permissions button.
8. Add the appropriate window and function permissions to the application group.
