Copy Application Group Window

Use this window to create a new user group or update an existing user group by copying select security permissions and membership from up to three existing user groups.

You can merge in module, function, activity center, and/or tasklists permissions and membership from the existing groups, leaving you with an application group that has the combined set of permissions and membership from up to three application groups.

You can also simply copy the appropriate permissions when creating a new or updating an existing application group or, if desired, you can Copy or Move the group membership from the groups being copied or merged to the new or existing application group.

How Do I...

1. Open the Group Definition window.

2. Locate and highlight the existing group you want to copy.

3. Click the Copy Groups... button. The Copy Application Group window is displayed.

4. If not already selected, select the New Group radio button.

5. Enter the description for the new group in the New Group Description column.

6. Select the type of security information you would like to copy: module, function, activity center, and/or tasklists.

7. If you want to also copy the existing group members to the new group, select the Copy/Move Existing Group Membership checkbox and then select the Copy option.

If you select the Move option, those members will be removed from the existing group.

8. Click OK.

1. Open the Group Definition window.

2. Locate and highlight the existing group with which you want to merge one or two existing groups (you may not merge more than three groups).

3. Click the Copy Group... button. The Copy Application Group window is displayed.

4. Click the Merge 2nd Group checkbox, and then select the appropriate group from the drop-down list.

5. If you want to merge another group, click the Merge 3rd Group checkbox, and then select that group from the drop-down list.

6. If not already selected, select the New Group radio button.

7. Enter the description for the new group in the New Group Description column.

8. Select the type of security information you would like to copy: module, function, activity center, and/or tasklists.

9. If you want to also copy the existing group members to the new group, select the Copy/Move Existing Group Membership checkbox and then select the Copy option.

If you select the Move option, those members will be removed from the existing group.

10. Click OK.

6. Choose whether to keep the existing access level or reset access to the highest of the two access levels.

If you choose the Keep Existing Access Level option, any permissions that are the same between the source group(s) and the target group will stay at the target group's access level. If you select the Reset to Highest Access Level option, the highest access level available to either the source group(s) and the target group will be applied to the target group.

7. Select the type of security information you would like to copy: module, function, activity center, and/or tasklists.

8. If you want to also copy the existing group members to the new group, select the Copy/Move Existing Group Membership checkbox and then select the Copy option.

If you select the Move option, those members will be removed from the existing group.

9. Click OK.
