The Transcript Division can be based on either the type of student (Student Division) or the type of course (Course Division). During the Registration process, either is used as the default value for Transcript Division (individual values can be changed when students are registered for courses). The Transcript Division Default is defined on the Registration Configuration window and may be changed at any time.
All students in a course receive the same kind of credit (undergraduate or graduate) regardless of Student Division (example).
The Student Division on the Student Master table determines the type of credit (undergraduate or graduate), regardless of Course Division (example).
When you define the division codes for your organization, be aware of the following issues:
· Registration calculates a separate Grade Point Average (GPA) for each division.
|
|
if a student takes courses in both the undergraduate division and the graduate division, Registration calculates an undergraduate GPA and a graduate GPA for that student. If only one GPA is tracked per student, you should define only one division. |
· Registration groups grade reports and transcripts by division. In the example above, the student receives one transcript for graduate work and another transcript for undergraduate work.
Division is a required column in Registration. If you do not separate students or courses by division, choose one division (e.g., undergraduate) and use it in all cases. If you choose to use only one division, J1 will calculate one GPA per person and all courses on the transcript will print together.
