An NSC Registration Transaction row is created when a student has Student Course Registration rows with a status of C (Current) and/or H (History). This typically would not include rows with W (Withdrawn) grades. In this situation, the status of the NSC Registration Transaction row will be one of the following
· Full Time
· Half Time or More
· Less than Half Time
If all of a student's registrations are dropped, then the NSC Part Time/Full Time Update creates an NSC Registration Transaction row with a status of W (Withdrawn). In addition, J1 updates the NSC Student Data Record with a W (Withdrawn) and a Special Status Start Date of the first day of the term. If the update finds a W on the previous row and the new status is Full Time, Half Time or More, or Less than Half Time, then J1 will clear the Student Data Record Special Status of W and clear the Special Status Date.
If your school uses the Perform Cross Student Table Updates (on the Registration Configuration window, J1 automatically sets two statuses:
At report time, the date from the student's NSC Student Data Record and from the Registration Transaction table will be used to determine each student's current status and the date the status began. J1 looks first at the NSC Student Data Record Special Status column for each student. If a value is found, it uses that Special Status and Special Status Date when creating the NSC Transmittal file.
The NSC Update PT/FT Hours and Status procedure can be run to generate one status row for each student who is enrolled in the selected year/term. Therefore, you can use this procedure to prepare an initial test report for the NSC.
