Rules Based Update Window

You can use the Rules Based Update window to select and execute an update process that has been defined in your system related to Academic Standing, Classification, National Student Clearinghouse, or any other rule. The Rules Based Update (RBU) will process the selected update types and codes in the order they are displayed on the window. When the process is complete, the selected columns that have been identified within the rule will be updated based on the criteria that have been established for that rule.

The NSC Update Types and Codes that are displayed on this window are called from the Maintain NSC Student Data Records window each time an NSC record needs to be created, which is when a Student Master record is created and when the NSC part time/full time process is performed if a record does not already exist.

You may want to create a rule that places a hold on students who have not paid their deposit. In this scenario, you would define a hold code and identify the criteria to include the entrance year and term (from the Student tab of the Student Information window) where the deposit is not greater than $299. If the student meets this criterion, the rules based update will place a deposit hold on the Student Master.
