If the data for which you are processing a letter does not match the selection criteria defined in the Query column (PBL Name and Datawindow Name fields) on the Merge Document Definition window, the following message will display: "Cannot Build Data File."
If this error message appears, all processing of letters will terminate and you will not be allowed to continue. Following are some possible causes of this error:
· The Where statement in the Datawindow in the .pbl is too specific. For example, if the Where statement is selecting on Salutation Code and one or more ID Numbers do not have a Salutation Code defined, the letter will not be merged because the data file cannot be built.
· The .txt file has been moved, and the new path has not been referenced in the merge document in MS Word.
