Gainful Employment Student Data Window

Before importing the file in the window, you'll need to use a text editor (such as Notepad++ to remove the header row.

1. Select the initial year of the Award Year file you want to import from the Report Year drop-down.

2. Click Import NSC File.

3. Navigate to the location where you have saved the NSC file you removed the header from and select it.

4. Click OK.

5. Once the import completes, click Retrieve to populate the window with data rows from the file.

6. Review the data to confirm the import was successful.

7. Click Collect Data.

In the table below, reference the fields that must be reported to the NSC. Each of these data points apply to a specific Record Type. There are three fields that institutions will need to be manually populated for this initial reporting year.

*If your institution used an SIS other than Jenzabar One for any award year/enrollment period that needs to be reported, you will need to extract those totals from your previous system. The totals must then be added to the TA record before you return the file to NSC. If your institution used Jenzabar One with either PowerFAIDS Desktop or Jenzabar Financial Aid during that time, Jenzabar will populate that data.

There are three fields you will need to manually populate with the following data:

• Comprehensive Transition and Postsecondary (CTP) Program: set to Y if your institution offers it

• Approved Prison Education Program: set to Y if your institution offers it

• Residency Tuition Status by State or District: set the appropriate code for each student, which may vary by student (IS – In-State Tuition, ID – In-District Tuition, OS – Out-of-State Tuition)

There are several options to populate these fields. You can work with your IT department to craft scripts to update records in the IRGainfulEmploymentData table. You can also use the Paste from Excel button available in the window to copy over data directly.

Once satisfied that the data is accurate and complete, use the Export NSC File button to generate the CSV file.

You'll need to rename the files from the default Jenzabar output format: ReportYearFVTGE.csv (e.g., 2023FVTGE.csv) to the one required by NSC for the completed file to be properly received. The renamed upload filename should follow this format: 6-digitOPEID_AwardYear.csv (e.g., 001234_20222023.csv).
