A prohibited course cannot be taken if a student is already registered for another given course. This scenario may occur when certain courses have different course IDs but are exactly the same in content.
You may set up a list of courses that a student may not take after they have taken a certain course. Click here for examples.
Most institutions base their prohibited course checking on the course catalog components. During implementation, you will define the components to be used for prohibited course checking. The examples above use the Department and Course Number components.
Prohibited course checking works very much like prerequisite checking. Click here for an example.
The Registration process searches the Student Course History table for prohibited courses. This search includes historical courses (already taken), current courses (in progress), and future courses (pre-registered). If the student has registered for any course on the prohibited list, a warning message appears during registration; however, this warning message may be overridden.
