Your school is assigned one FICE code, but you may have multiple Branch codes. These codes are assigned by the Federal Government for use in reporting. Typically, you would have more than one code if you have a medical school or other similar organization.
Because individual student records are grouped by FICE and Branch code for National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) reports, every student record must have the correct codes. Many schools have only one FICE/Branch designation and will report all students under the same codes.
· If you have multiple FICE and/or Branch codes, enter the most common codes as defaults in the NSC Configuration window and then manually correct the data on the student data records of the students who are to be reported under different FICE/Branch codes.
· If you do not have multiple branches, use "00" for the branch code.

If your organization has only one FICE code but has programs with very different academic terms or mandatory periods of attendance (such as a medical school), you should consult with the NSC. They may advise you to generate separate data for the different programs. If this is true, you can differentiate the programs through the use of a "dummy" Branch code. |
