In order to help creditors anticipate when to contact students about repaying their student loans, the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) requires that you report an anticipated graduation date for students at your organization. This date must be provided for each full-time, half-time, and less than half-time student and for students on an approved leave of absence. You do not need to provide this information for other students, but you may want to enter the information in all student data records so that it is available when needed. J1 Desktop will determine when to include the information in a report. An Anticipated Graduation Date needs to be provided for both degree-seeking and non-degree seeking students.
NSC requires the following:
· You must provide an estimated graduation date for each student with a Full-time (F), Half-time (H), Less than Half-time (L), and Approved Leave of Absence (A) enrollment status.
· The date cannot be before the current term's end date and must include a month, day, and year.
For degree-seeking students, the Anticipated Graduation Date is determined by comparing the Expected Graduation Year and the Expected Graduation Term columns on the Student Division tab of the Student Information window (Student Division table) with years and terms defined on the Year/Term table. The End Date of that year and term is used as the Anticipated Graduation Date.
For non-degree seeking students, the Anticipated Graduation Date is set to the term end date for the term in which you are reporting the student. However, you will have a final opportunity to edit students' Anticipated Graduation Dates in the Edit NSC Transmittal Detail Records window after you have created transmittal files. This only affects the transmittal files, however, not students' NSC data for future reports.
