Use these buttons to change the code order of the Resulting Codes

Use this button to copy an existing set of rules. The next sequential code order will be assigned to the copied row, and the system will automatically save it.

After copying a set of rules, remember to edit the values to reflect the proper results.

 

The "NP" Native Asian/Pacific Islander is one of the NSC Ethnicity Race values that is not a clean mapping from either the Old IPEDS Value or the New IPEDS Value:

	"NP" Native Asian Pacific Islander	A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, or Pacific Islands. This includes people from China, Japan, Korea, the Philippine Islands, American Samoa, India, and Vietnam.
		MAPPING NOTE:
		Old IPEDS Value:	Your Asian or Pacific Islander value mapped to TABLE_DETAIL.TBL_VALUE_ALT1 = '1' (Asian or Pacific Islander need additional element to differentiate between these)
		New IPEDS Value:	ETHNIC_RACE_REPORT.IPEDS_REPORT_VALUE = '5' (Asian or Pacific Islander need additional element to differentiate between these)

Your institution must determine the data elements that you can use or are already using to associate a student with the NSC 'NP' Native Asian/Pacific Islander value. In the sample window below, ELITE PAINT was used to display BIOGRAPH_MASTER.UDEF_2a_4 on the Biograph Master subtab to store additional Ethnicity Race information for NSC.

  Remember that you can copy the Resulting Code on the Results Definition tab so that you do not have to retype the rule each time.

1.    Access the Update Results and Rules window.

2.    Click the Results Definition tab.

3.    Click the + symbol for each book icon to expand its contents.

4.    Select one of the update type and code combinations to update.

5.    If the code is a system-defined code, pre-defined values are displayed in the bottom portion of the window; user defined values will not display any results until you enter the values manually.

6.    Select a pre-defined Resulting Code from the drop-down list or right-click and select the Add Row option.

7.    Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to arrange the appropriate sort order for which the results will be executed.

8.    Click the Results Rules Definition tab. A message box will be displayed if you have not yet saved the new code.

9.    Right-click and select the Add Row option.

10.  You can now build your rules criteria that will be used to produce the desired results for your new code.

 

1.    Select a table and column that will be accessed by this query from the Rules Table/Column/Expression drop-down list.

2.    Select the appropriate operator (equal to, less than, greater than, etc.) from the Rules Operator drop-down list.

3.    Type a value in the Rules Value/Expression column.

4.    Click the Logical AND/OR column when using more than one table. If you choose OR, you must enclose the expression within the ( ) symbols.

5.    Repeat Steps 2-4 for each table and column.
